Resident Evil Requiem Basement Safe Code — Normal and Insanity

The exact Basement safe combination in Resident Evil Requiem, including normal and Insanity codes, safe location, clue-file location, and the Raccoon map reward.

Resident Evil Requiem Basement Safe Code — Normal and Insanity

If you only need the Basement safe combination in Resident Evil Requiem, use Right 60, Left 40, Right 80 on normal difficulties. On Insanity, use Left 70, Right 50, Left 20. Complete all three dial movements before opening the safe. The turn direction is part of the answer, so memorizing 60-40-80 without the right-left-right pattern is not enough.

Why this safe is easy to lose track of

The Basement safe is unusual because Requiem gives you its clue during a Leon segment, then expects Grace to use that information later in the basement. That character switch makes the file easy to forget. If you reach the safe with no memory of the clue, you have not missed a random puzzle in the room—the answer was deliberately shown earlier. Fortunately, the lock accepts the fixed code even if you never read the file.

  • Normal starts by turning right to 60.
  • Insanity starts left to 70.
  • Do not test the handle until all three stops are entered.

Where the Basement safe actually is

The safe is in Construction Storage in the Care Center Basement, inside the small north-east side room. The route is tied to the Furnace and Inspection area and involves moving a Joint Plug to open the relevant path. Some walkthroughs describe it as a side room near the forklift or Workshop; Evil Resource identifies the room itself as Construction Storage. Once you are inside, check the side office rather than the larger open floor.

Enter the dial sequence cleanly

On Casual and Standard, move the dial right to 60, reverse left to 40, then reverse again and go right to 80. Open the safe after that third stop. Insanity replaces the pattern with left 70, right 50, left 20. If you overshoot or turn the wrong way, restart the three-step sequence rather than trying to rescue a partial input. Think of each step as direction plus number, not just three numbers.

Direction matters as well as numbers: Normal uses right 60, left 40, right 80; Insanity uses left 70, right 50, left 20. The artwork is conceptual, not an actual game screen.

Where to find the Basement Safe Code file

The code file appears during Leon's section at the Attic Stairway on Care Center 3F. Evil Resource places it inside the warped closet in the middle of the passage, in the same closet that can also contain a Compensator depending on your progress. That explains the puzzle's strange timing: Leon discovers the combination, but Grace is the character who later opens the basement safe.

What is inside the safe?

The safe contains 10 Handgun Ammo and the Raccoon Roundup Map for Rhodes Hill. The map is the more valuable long-term reward because it updates your map with the locations of any uncollected Mr. Raccoon Memoriams around the Care Center. If you are cleaning up collectibles, opening this safe can save far more time than the few seconds it takes to enter the combination.

The Basement Safe Code file is found earlier than the safe. The guide discusses the Raccoon Roundup Map and handgun ammo reward; the depicted documents and supplies are illustrative, not official item assets.

Can you open it if you missed the file?

Yes. The file explains the combination but is not a prerequisite for the lock. On a repeat run, or if you moved past Leon's attic section without reading the note, you can still use the code directly. The combination is fixed by difficulty rather than randomized per save. That makes the guide useful even after the original clue is no longer convenient to revisit.

If the code does not work

First confirm that you are using the Basement code rather than another Rhodes Hill safe. Next check difficulty: normal begins Right 60, while Insanity begins Left 70. Finally, make sure you did not try the handle after the first or second number. A failed attempt is easiest to fix by starting the full sequence again with the correct directions.

Before leaving Construction Storage

  • Confirm your difficulty.
  • Normal: Right 60 → Left 40 → Right 80.
  • Insanity: Left 70 → Right 50 → Left 20.
  • Collect the 10 Handgun Ammo.
  • Collect the Raccoon Roundup Map for Rhodes Hill.
