The best shot in EA SPORTS FC 27 is not one input you repeat for every chance. EA's current shooting guide frames shot selection around player position, distance from goal, goalkeeper position, angle, attributes and defensive pressure. Improving finishing starts with reading the chance before pressing shoot, not memorising one mechanic and forcing it everywhere.
Choose the situation before the shot type
Before selecting a finish, ask four questions: how far are you from goal, where is the goalkeeper, is a defender closing the shooting lane, and do you have time for a slower setup such as a Power Shot? Those questions matter more than trying to identify one universally best shot.
Regular shot: the baseline option
EA recommends the regular shot for straightforward situations. Aim toward the part of goal you want and adjust power for distance: generally less when close, more when farther out. Player attributes, body position, angle and pressure can all affect the result, so power is only one variable.
Finesse Shot: choose curl over raw force
A Finesse Shot curls the ball toward your target. EA highlights it when you have enough room to bend the ball around a defender orgoalkeeper. It makes particular sense when your body angle opens a curved route toward the far side instead of a straight-line finish.
The Finesse Shot PlayStyle improves execution speed, curve and accuracy, while PlayStyle+ pushes those advantages further. Players without the PlayStyle can still attempt Finesse Shots; specialists simply execute the mechanic more effectively.
Chip Shot: punish an aggressive goalkeeper
Use a Chip to lift the ball over the goalkeeper when they move away from the goal line orrush your attacker. The key read is goalkeeper position. If the keeper stays deep, a Chip can turn a strong chance into an easy catch.
The Chip Shot PlayStyle makes chips faster and more accurate, with a stronger effect at PlayStyle+. Low Driven cannot be added to a Chip Shot in FC 27.
Power Shot: space matters more than the word power
Power Shots are built for situations where you have room to set up a stronger attempt. EA explicitly notes their longer wind-up compared with regular shots, giving defenders more time to challenge. If pressure is already arriving, the more powerful option can be the worse decision.
Think of Power Shot as a space-first mechanic. Create separation with a touch, dribble orlayoff, then use the extra setup time. In a crowded box, a faster Regular orLow Driven release may be more practical.
Trivela Shot: not every player can perform it
A Trivela uses the outside of the foot. In FC 27, EA says the player needs the Game Changer PlayStyle orPlayStyle+ to perform a Trivela Shot. Without it, the player attempts a shot with the top of the foot instead.
Gamechanger improves the accuracy of Fancy and Trivela shots, with an even larger accuracy boost at PlayStyle+. If your attack is built around Trivelas, check the actual Player Item rather than assuming the animation is available to everyone.
Low Driven Shot: the FC 27 modifier you should understand
In FC 27, Low Driven is more than a standalone finish. EA allows you to add the Low Driven modifier to most shot types by pressing the shot input again after setting your shot power. The purpose is to keep the shot low, especially in close-range and one-on-one situations.
What can combine with Low Driven?
- Regular Low Driven: set shot power, then press shoot again.
- Low Driven Finesse: use your Finesse input, then add the second shot press.
- Low Driven Power: set the Power Shot power, then press the normal shot input again.
- Low Driven Trivela: use the Trivela input, then add the second shot press; the player still needs Game Changer/+.
- Low Driven volley orheader: when the ball arrives in the air, press shoot again after setting power to attempt the low modifier.
The official exception is Chip Shot: you cannot add the Low Driven modifier to a Chip.
When should you choose Low Driven over Regular?
Low Driven makes the most sense when you are close to goal orone-on-one and want a low trajectory. If the chance instead calls for lifting the ball over the goalkeeper, using curl around traffic, orshooting from a setup that needs height, choose another finish. Do not make Low Driven automatic; use it when the low path fits the chance.
Low Driven Shot PlayStyle
The Low Driven Shot PlayStyle improves accuracy, ball speed and execution speed for these finishes. PlayStyle+ enhances those advantages further. The PlayStyle makes the mechanic stronger; it does not remove the importance of angle, pressure, power and timing.
Air balls: volley orheader
When the ball reaches your player in the air, use the regular shot input. Depending on ball height, position and player movement, the game may attempt a volley orheader. You can also attempt a Low Driven volley orheader by pressing the shot input again after setting power.
Precision Header improves header accuracy and power, with a greater effect at PlayStyle+. Acrobatic improves volley accuracy and grants access to acrobatic volley animations. That means the same cross can lead to different optimal finishes depending on the Player Item receiving it.
One-second shot selection framework
- Keeper set, clear direct lane: Regular.
- Need curl around a body orkeeper: Finesse.
- Keeper leaves the goal line: Chip.
- Clear setup space: Power.
- Have Game Changer and want outside-foot execution: Trivela.
- Close range orone-on-one and want a low finish: Low Driven.
- Ball arriving in the air: regular shot input, leading to volley/header depending on context.
Shot power is not one fixed formula
EA does not publish one universal ideal power value for each distance, because distance is only part of the outcome. Body position, attributes, pressure and angle also matter. Practice repeatable situations rather than memorising one bar length for every player.
Attributes and PlayStyles still matter
Selecting the correct mechanic does not guarantee a goal. EA explicitly includes player attributes, position, angle and defensive pressure among shot factors, while PlayStyles enhance specific finishing behaviours. A Finesse Shot+ forward, Low Driven Shot+ striker and Gamechanger+ attacker do not solve the same chance in the same way.
How to check your actual controls
Controls depend on platform and your configuration, so a fixed button chart from another setup can be misleading. From the Main Menu, go to Play > Learn to Play > Practice Arena, pause and open Button Help. During a match, pause and go to Settings > Basic Controls.
How to practice shooting efficiently
EA's Training Center includes shooting work under Fundamentals, Rush and Attacking. Practice Arena lets you test shots from different distances and angles without playing a full match.
- Pick one player and one shot type.
- Repeat the same angle while changing power slightly.
- Change the angle before changing the shot type.
- Swap to a player with different attributes orPlayStyles.
- Only add a second shot type after you understand when the first one fails.
- Finish by training the decision itself, not just the button sequence.
Common finishing mistakes
- Using Power Shot under immediate pressure and ignoring its longer wind-up.
- Trying a Chip while the goalkeeper is still deep.
- Expecting a true Trivela without Game Changer.
- Treating Low Driven as a separate shot that cannot combine with others.
- Trying to create a Low Driven Chip even though EA explicitly excludes it.
- Forcing Finesse from an angle with no useful curl path.
- Changing shot type, power and angle all at once in practice and learning nothing from the result.
Zaplat decision rule
Master three decisions first: Regular for direct chances, Finesse for curved routes, and Low Driven for close-range low finishes. Add Chip as punishment for an aggressive keeper and Power when you create setup space. Learn Trivela last because it depends on a Player Item with Game Changer rather than being a universal option.
