League of Legends Account Transfer Guide 2026: Cost, Regions, Ranked Reset and What Moves

League account transfers cost 2600 RP one way and have a 90-day cooldown. Here is what moves, what resets, which regions are restricted, and how Ranked/MMR and ping can change.

League of Legends Account Transfer Guide 2026: Cost, Regions, Ranked Reset and What Moves

A League of Legends account transfer is not the same as making a fresh account on another server. It moves a large part of your existing League profile to a different game region, including your collection and hidden matchmaking data, but several competitive and region-specific pieces do not come across unchanged. In 2026, the decision is expensive enough—and difficult enough to undo—that it is worth checking every consequence before you click the transfer button.

How to buy an account transfer

  • Open the League of Legends client on PC or Mac.
  • Enter the Store.
  • Click the Account button next to Purchase RP.
  • Choose an eligible destination region from the transfer options shown for your current shard.
  • Review the destination and price before confirming.
  • TFT-only mobile players must use the PC/Mac client to perform the server transfer.

How much does a League server transfer cost?

Riot’s current Account Transfer FAQ lists a one-way transfer at 2600 RP. The phrase “one way” matters: if you later decide to move somewhere else—or return to the region you came from—you are making another transfer rather than undoing the first one.

How long does the transfer take?

For most accounts, Riot says the transfer should be near-instantaneous. Accounts holding an unusually large amount of RP may be paused for a short manual review intended to protect them from malicious activity.

The 90-day cooldown

Every account transfer now carries a 90-day cooldown. Once you move from one server to another, you must wait 90 days before another account transfer can be completed.

That cooldown is one reason to treat the destination as a real commitment. If you move for one friend group, a temporary trip or a short competitive experiment, you cannot simply bounce back the next day.

Which regions can you transfer to in 2026?

Transfer availability is not a simple “every server to every server” system. Riot’s current matrix blocks certain destination pairs, and the client only shows eligible destinations from your current region. The most useful rule is to trust the destination list in the live client before buying RP.

  • From North America, EU West, EU Nordic & East, Oceania, Japan, LATAM North and LATAM South: transfers to Brazil, Russia and Korea are unavailable.
  • Brazil and Russia currently cannot transfer out to any other shard region through the standard service.
  • From Turkey: Brazil, Russia, Korea, LATAM North and LATAM South are unavailable destinations.
  • From Southeast Asia: Brazil, Russia and Korea are unavailable.
  • From Vietnam and Taiwan: Brazil, Russia, Korea and North America are unavailable.
  • From Middle East: Brazil, Russia and Korea are unavailable.

What DOES transfer with your League account?

  • Account level.
  • Champions and skins, including ward skins.
  • Emotes, icons and rune pages.
  • Blue Essence balance and remaining RP after paying the transfer cost.
  • Friends list.
  • Hextech Crafting inventory.
  • Champion Mastery levels.
  • Hidden MMR, adjusted to the new region.
  • General account statistics such as games played, takedowns and wins.
  • Loading-screen borders and item sets.
  • Riot ID.
  • Login username as long as it remains globally unique.
  • Eternals, Challenges, objective and Battle Pass progress.
  • Honor level.
  • Clash trophies, banners and flag frames.

What does NOT transfer cleanly?

  • Your current Ranked league placement.
  • Your Shop offers.
  • Clash club affiliation.
  • Clash match history.
  • Certain region-specific competitive values such as Victory Points / ranked split points listed by Riot.

What happens to Ranked after the transfer?

Your displayed rank does not simply follow you to the new server. Riot requires you to play new placement games. Your seeding uses your existing hidden MMR relative to the population of the destination region, so your new Tier or Division can differ from what you had before.

The same rule applies if you later transfer back to a previous region: you become unranked there again and must replay placements. This is important if your main reason for moving is Ranked, because a transfer preserves underlying matchmaking information but not your visible ladder position.

Will your MMR reset?

No, not in the sense of becoming a completely fresh account. Riot lists your hidden MMR as data that transfers, but it is adapted to the new region. Because MMR distributions differ between servers, the destination placement may not reproduce the same visible rank.

What happens to your Riot ID and friends?

Riot says you keep your Riot ID, and your friends list transfers. That makes the move less disruptive socially than starting a new regional account from zero.

However, being on another shard still changes who you can actually queue with. A friend remaining on your old region does not become cross-region queue compatible just because their account remains in your list.

What happens to RP and Blue Essence?

Your Blue Essence balance transfers. Your remaining RP transfers too, after the 2600 RP transfer cost is deducted. Before buying more RP solely for the move, verify that the transfer option is currently available to your desired destination.

Will your skins, loot and mastery survive?

Yes. Riot’s current transfer list includes champions, skins, ward skins, Hextech Crafting inventory and Champion Mastery. This is the central advantage of transferring instead of abandoning a long-running account and creating a new one in another region.

What about Honor and Battle Pass progress?

Riot currently lists Honor Level, Battle Pass progress, Challenges and objective progress among the data that transfers. Even so, competitive systems can change by season, so check the live transfer FAQ again before a high-stakes move around a season or event boundary.

How can transfer affect ping?

A region is not chosen by political borders; Riot says League regions are structured around server and network infrastructure. The farther your connection path is from the destination infrastructure, the worse latency may become.

Do not assume “the server for my country” is automatically the best connection. Test your likely route where possible, ask friends in the destination region about their current latency, and prioritize stable ping if you play Ranked.

Can Riot reverse an accidental transfer?

Riot’s current policy is strict: accidental transfers are not reversed, and the transfer cost is not refunded. That includes cases where someone with access to your logged-in computer presses the transfer button.

Why is the transfer option missing?

  • Your desired route may not be supported by the current region matrix.
  • You may still be inside the 90-day transfer cooldown.
  • A new patch may be deploying to the destination server; transfers stay unavailable until that server finishes patching.
  • Riot may temporarily disable transfers for operational reasons.
  • TFT Mobile alone cannot perform the transfer; use the PC/Mac client.

What to send Riot if the transfer fails

Riot asks players with unexplained transfer failures to submit a support ticket containing the login username, Riot ID, email address, current server, intended destination server and a screenshot of the error.

Should you transfer or make a new account?

Transfer if preserving your collection, progression, friends, currencies, mastery and account history matters more than the 2600 RP cost and the 90-day lock-in. A new account can make more sense if you only want to occasionally play with friends in another region, want to keep your original Ranked home untouched, or are unsure whether the destination ping will be good enough long term.

Bottom line

A League server transfer in 2026 preserves most of the account you care about, but it is not a cosmetic region switch. It costs 2600 RP, locks another transfer for 90 days, changes your Ranked placement process, can affect latency and has region-pair restrictions. For players moving countries or permanently joining a different community, that can be worthwhile. For temporary play, a separate regional account may be the safer choice.
