Can a PlayStation 5 player invite a Steam friend in eFootball? Can Xbox players join a Co-op Friend Match, and why can a mobile friend see a different matchmaking menu? KONAMI introduced real **console–PC cross-platform online play in eFootball v4.4.0, including Friend Match, Co-op and a shared console/PC ranking environment. It covers PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC and Steam. The first step is choosing the correct version and enabling permissions—not looking for a nonexistent universal cross-play code. This guide separates matchmaking and inviting friends from network latency, mobile's distinct friend features, and the separate Nintendo Switch 2 title eFootball Kick-Off!**.
1. Cross-play is already live, not a future roadmap item
KONAMI's v4.4.0 release notes explicitly say console and PC users can play one another online, compete in combined eFootball League and ranking events, and enjoy Friend Match and Co-op across platforms. This supersedes old marketing from 2021 promising cross-play 'after launch'. If a 2021 article says the feature is coming later, use the actual v4.4.0 instructions instead. Cross-play makes sessions possible but does not guarantee every player can join every region or mode regardless of service status, age permissions or their current game updates.
2. Which versions form the supported console–PC pool?
The official console/PC feature list names PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC and Steam. Here, Xbox on PC means the Microsoft/Xbox-distributed PC version—not the same as a phone running Xbox Cloud Gaming. All listed editions need appropriate online permissions, compatible client versions and the supported Friend Match or Co-op mode. The platforms' store IDs differ, so linking storefront friends alone does not necessarily add a player to the eFootball Friend List. Confirm exactly which product each friend actually installed.
3. Why the iOS and Android friend list is different
KONAMI's console/PC cross-play announcement labels the feature PlayStation/Xbox/Xbox on PC/Steam. It lists iOS and Android separately for mobile improvements, without adding those devices to the same console/PC cross-match pool. Mobile does have its own Friends feature and invitations to Friend Match and Co-op Events, described in its v3.4.0 notes. This is not proof that a phone can directly join a PS5 or Steam room. Do not promise mobile-to-console matchmaking or transfer a Dream Team account as a 'fix'; account-data migration and online cross-play are different topics.
4. Nintendo Switch 2 has a different eFootball game
The official eFootball Kick-Off! FAQ for Nintendo Switch 2 says **cross-platform play with other eFootball series versions is not available. It also says online Co-op is not supported within that product, even though some World Tour/International Cup content can be shared via its own GameShare** rules. This is an important distinction: a friend saying 'I own eFootball on Switch 2' may have an entirely different product from console/PC eFootball Dream Team. Switch 2's online and GameShare rules cannot be used to enter Steam or PlayStation Friend Match rooms.
- Supported console–PC: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series/One, Xbox on PC, Steam.
- Separate mobile: iOS/Android have friend features but aren't documented in this crossplay pool.
- Separate Switch 2: eFootball Kick-Off! FAQ explicitly says no crossplay with other series versions.
- Modes: 1v1 Friend Match and up-to-3v3 Co-op are not the same room.
5. PlayStation and Steam Cross-Platform toggle
For PlayStation and Steam, KONAMI gives the exact route Extras → Game Settings → Cross-Platform. Enable cross-platform play when you want to face or invite users of another supported console/PC platform. If it is intentionally disabled, troubleshoot that setting before blaming the opponent's account. The setting is reversible; it does not merge player collections or transfer in-game currency across stores. Also verify that the console's online participation permissions and required subscriptions, where applicable, are in order. The actual in-game labels may vary by local UI language.
6. Xbox console: check cross-network privacy
For Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, the official KONAMI sequence is: press the Xbox button → Profile & system → Settings → Account → Privacy & online safety → Xbox privacy → View details & customize → Communication & multiplayer. Find You can join cross-network play and select an allowed state if permitted by the account holder. This is a platform-wide permission, not an eFootball-only setting. Child accounts and family-managed settings must be handled by an authorized adult; do not advise players to evade parental controls. Restart the game's online session if an account permission changes.
7. Xbox on PC uses a different permission page
For Xbox on PC, KONAMI directs users to Xbox.com: sign into the relevant Microsoft account, select Xbox profile → Settings → Safety & Privacy → Manage safety & privacy settings → Xbox Settings → Privacy & online safety, find the Xbox and Windows 10 devices Online Safety tab, allow You can join cross-network play, then Submit. Menu wording or website structure can change, so if a setting moved, search official Xbox account privacy controls rather than following an unknown third-party tool. A PC user on Steam follows the PlayStation/Steam in-game route instead.
8. Add the friend within eFootball, not only Steam or PSN
KONAMI's v4.4.0 notes explicitly mention a Friend List for games with friends on other platforms. Use the game's own friend search or friend-registration flow and confirm the exact displayed identity before sending a match invitation. Your Steam, PSN and Xbox friends are different identity systems; an outside platform friendship may not automatically produce an in-game eFootball contact. On mobile, the game's v3.4.0 friend-registration feature is separate and does not establish console–mobile crossplay. If an invite does not appear, first verify that the intended friend is online in the supported console/PC version.
9. Start a 1-vs-1 Friend Match the right way
The official Dream Team / overview pages describe Friend Match as an online mode with selectable match settings, from 1-vs-1 to 3-vs-3 Co-op. For a head-to-head game, both players should choose a compatible Friend Match 1-vs-1 Match Room, with crossplay enabled and the correct match-room invitation. If joining by a room identifier, copy the identifier accurately and check the host has not closed or made the session unavailable. Room names, passwords and local UI wording can differ by version. Do not mistake Quick Match or eFootball League for a private friend room.
- PlayStation / Steam: Extras → Game Settings → Cross-Platform.
- Xbox consoles: Xbox account privacy → Communication & multiplayer → allow cross-network play.
- Xbox on PC: Xbox.com account privacy → cross-network play → Submit.
- All: game updated, in-game Friend List contact and matching room type.
10. Set up a Co-op room for up to 3-vs-3
KONAMI lists Friend Match / Co-op Match Room as the cooperative path; Dream Team describes matches up to 3-vs-3 Co-op, meaning teammates operate in a group rather than merely spectate. Create or join the supported Co-op room and invite each eligible console/PC friend through the in-game roster. Confirm each invited player is on the correct platform pool and has cross-network permission. Co-op is not an automatic property of every Friend Match lobby—choosing a 1-vs-1 Match Room is a different mode. The title's maximum per room should not be read as a guarantee that all players can connect from mobile.
11. 1v1 versus Co-op uses different connection architecture
KONAMI explains two models. Friend Match (1-vs-1 Match Room) uses peer-to-peer (P2P) connectivity, where both players' routes affect stability. Friend Match (Co-op Match Room) uses the client–server model, where clients communicate with a game server. That is why switching room type can change the network behavior, even with the same friends. It does not imply that one model is categorically broken or that a matchmaking invitation always fails because of NAT. For real input delay and packet loss, consult KONAMI's separate Online PvP Setup guide instead of mixing those symptoms with permission errors.
12. Understand the antenna and post-match network graph
KONAMI's Online PvP Setup describes an antenna icon in applicable client–server online modes, showing your connection to the game server and a Network Graph after the match. The antenna may look different for two opponents because each person's server connection is measured separately. A low antenna or bad graph points toward link stability, not automatically a disabled Cross-Platform permission. In P2P 1-vs-1 Friend Matches, do not demand the exact same client–server antenna readout. Record the specific room mode and symptom before filing a report.
13. If invites fail, separate permission, mode and outage
Diagnose in this order: verify platform eligibility, update both clients, check Cross-Platform on PlayStation/Steam or Xbox cross-network privacy, use the eFootball Friend List, and confirm a real Friend Match or Co-op room exists. Try a new 1-vs-1 room and a supported Co-op room to see whether only one mode fails. If friends on different networks all cannot log in, check KONAMI's current eFootball News / Online Support for maintenance or incidents. If only a home network fails, restart the game and use safe official network checks. Never disable account security or open random router ports merely to accept an invitation.
- Invites missing: check game/version, permission, exact friend and room.
- Only 1v1 fails: consider P2P connection and host link, not Co-op architecture.
- Only Co-op fails: check supported Co-op room and server status.
- Never: disable security, evade family settings or promise mobile/Switch 2 crossplay.
14. Common myths and a useful KONAMI support report
Don't confuse cross-play (playing together) with cross-progression/account transfer, assume a mobile Friend List implies mobile-to-console matches, or expect eFootball Kick-Off! to work with Dream Team rooms. Also avoid outdated pre-v4.4.0 claims that PlayStation and Xbox can never meet. If support is needed, provide both platforms and store versions, game update build, exact menu/mode, Cross-Platform/permission status, Friend List and room behavior, date/time, whether another friend can join, and any error messages. Remove IDs or screenshots containing private data before posting publicly.
Reliable order: supported console/PC editions → latest compatible update → Cross-Platform permission for the actual platform → add friend inside eFootball → Friend Match 1v1 or Co-op Match Room → confirm invitation → investigate KONAMI maintenance or network stability separately. The mobile app and Switch 2's eFootball Kick-Off! require separate expectations. Cross-play is already live across documented console/PC versions; it is not a guarantee of shared accounts or identical networking in every room.
