FC 27 The Grounds Amps Guide: Tiers, Signature Amps, Affinity, Slots and Duration

Amps in EA SPORTS FC 27 are Accelerated Match Performance items that temporarily change how your active Archetype performs in The Grounds. They are not permanent build upgrades. Depending on the item, an Amp can provide Attribute boosts, a PlayStyle orPlayStyle+, a Perk, and an additional bonus when its Archetype Affinity matches your active build.

What exactly is an Amp?

EA describes Amps as temporary items that give you more control over how your active Archetype performs on the pitch. The key word is temporary: each Amp has its own benefits and most have a limited number of match uses. Always read the item panel instead of assuming two Amps in the same Tier behave the same way.

Tier 1 and Tier 2: Standard Amps

Tier 1 and Tier 2 Amps provide Attribute boosts for a limited number of matches. Their value is straightforward: identify the Attributes they boost, check how many uses remain, and decide whether those gains fit the role you are about to play.

Tier 3 and Tier 4: Signature Amps

Tier 3 and Tier 4 are Signature Amps and can be inspired by real-life players. Depending on the item, a Signature Amp can provide boosts to two Attributes, a PlayStyle orPlayStyle+, a Perk and an Archetype Affinity bonus. Do not judge them by Tier alone; compare the full benefit package.

How Archetype Affinity works

Some Amps are linked to a specific Archetype. Equip one to its matching Archetype and you receive an extra Affinity bonus on top of the standard benefits. EA's example is a Magician Affinity Amp that can give the Magician Archetype an additional Sprint Speed boost.

A mismatch does not disable the entire Amp. You can still receive its standard benefits on another Archetype, but you lose the extra Affinity bonus. Treat Affinity as an efficiency bonus, not a universal activation requirement.

How many Amps can you equip?

The Amps tab has three slots: one Signature Amp slot and two Standard Amp slots. Before you equip anything, check the boosts, Affinity and remaining match uses and make sure the active Archetype is the build you actually intend to play.

How to equip an Amp

  1. Open the Archetypes menu.
  2. Go to the Amps tab.
  3. Choose an open slot.
  4. Select the Amp you want to use.
  5. Review its boosts, Affinity and remaining match uses.
  6. Equip it to your active Archetype.

EA also says equipped items can be updated from supported menus and lobbies without leaving your current flow completely.

How long do Amps last?

Most Amps last for a limited number of match uses. Completing an eligible match consumes one use. Duration is item-specific, so check the Amp panel rather than guessing from its Tier.

What happens if you disconnect?

EA specifically states that intentionally disconnecting from an eligible match while an Amp is equipped still consumes one of its remaining match uses. Quitting is not a way to protect durability.

Can you unequip and save remaining uses?

Yes. Unequip the Amp before all uses are consumed and it returns to your inventory with the remaining match uses intact. This is useful when you are changing Archetypes ormoving into activities where the boost is unnecessary.

Attribute caps can reduce the boost you receive

An Amp can temporarily increase Attributes, but it cannot push an Attribute above its maximum cap. If your build is already near the maximum, only part of the listed boost may apply. EA shows an on-screen warning when a boost would be partially wasted.

The important catch is that match durability can still be consumed even when you are not receiving the full Attribute boost because of the cap. Checking your current build before equipping matters.

Where are Amps disabled?

Amps do not apply in every activity. EA's clearest example is Kickabouts: your Archetype card shows the equipped Amp as disabled, its benefits do not apply, and playing the Kickabout does not reduce its remaining match uses. Activity information panels can also tell you when Amps are not supported.

Where can you get Amps?

EA lists Stores, Objectives, Live Game Modes and Featured Bundles as sources. Availability can change, so check price, availability, purchase limit and expiration on the specific item oroffer.

Which currencies are used?

EA's The Grounds store guide says you can earn Grounds Coins by playing and completing Objectives in The Grounds, and some items can also be purchased with EA SPORTS FC Points. The accepted currency depends on the offer, so confirm the item panel before buying.

Where can you buy them?

Amps and Consumables can be accessed through the Store tab on the World Map, World Stores inside The Grounds and the Clubhouse Store. World Stores are located in the Terrace, Montclair, Parkside and Zeiza. Availability can change between stores and over time.

Where do purchased Amps go?

Purchased Amps appear in their inventory inside the Archetypes menu. EA also says items you own in The Grounds cannot be sold ortraded to other players.

A practical Amp selection framework

  1. Start with the role of your Archetype and the Attributes that matter for that position.
  2. Check Attribute caps so part of a boost is not wasted.
  3. For a Signature Amp, evaluate the PlayStyle/PlayStyle+, Perk and Affinity rather than the Tier number alone.
  4. Match Archetype Affinity when its extra bonus fits your build.
  5. Compare remaining match uses with the price before buying.
  6. Do not spend a strong Amp in an activity where Amps are disabled.
  7. Unequip before switching builds orstopping if you want to preserve remaining uses.

Standard or Signature?

Standard Amps are easier to value when you know exactly which Attribute needs a temporary lift. Signature Amps become more valuable when you use the whole package: Attribute boosts plus PlayStyle/Perk plus matching Affinity. A higher Tier can still be inefficient if the Affinity misses your Archetype oryour boosted Attributes are already near cap.

Common mistakes

  • Buying a high-Tier Amp without reading its details.
  • Equipping a Signature Amp on a non-matching Archetype and expecting the Affinity bonus.
  • Ignoring Attribute caps.
  • Assuming an intentional disconnect preserves a use.
  • Forgetting to unequip when you want to save durability.
  • Testing in Kickabouts and thinking the Amp is broken even though Kickabouts officially disable Amps.
  • Buying before checking duration, purchase limit and expiration.

Zaplat decision rule

Treat Amps as limited-match resources, not permanent build components. The best Amp is not automatically the highest Tier: it is the one that fits your Archetype, role and uncapped Attributes and delivers enough value over its remaining uses. For important matches, matching Signature Affinity can be powerful; for normal play, a clear Standard boost can be the more efficient choice.
